These appetizer recipes are easy to make and very delicious. They feed a crowd and don’t need any fancy ingredients to make them. Serve them up hot and snack away during the super bowl.
I am here for the halftime performance. Do I watch American football? No, not really. But I am here for the food and drinks. These games give reasons to actively enjoy making little bite sized snacks for family and friends. Whether you are watching with the guys or watching with your family or even just watching alone, these appetizer recipes will take your game up a notch.
Don’t get me wrong, I am totally happy with a large pizza being cut into thin pieces and snacking on that as well – heck I have done that and here is my homemade pizza recipe incase you needed one, this one is SOLID. Through this blog we will also talk about main courses that double down as appetizers if served in smaller portions. The beauty is to have fun with it and come what may, make sure it is delicious. Having said this there are a few points to keep in mind what making hot appetizer to achieve the best results. Let us discuss some of them.
When making hot appetizers you must always make them just before serving, there is nothing sadder than serving a hot appetizer cold. Hence most of my recipes either come together quickly or I suggest to assemble them ahead of time as they can be tough to mix and fry in one straight go.
If the recipe doesn’t call for a dipping sauce, glaze or spread then it is always to have cold dips around like my hummus 3 ways for a little saucy action. You can stick to things like ketchup, hot sauce, bbq sauce, mustard, mayo or sweet chili sauce.
I found it best to serve hot appetizers in platters, they are easy to throw away later and they make for a fun and intimate serving option. You can use throw away containers as well but a 3 – 4 platters are good enough.
So apart from your hot appetizers it is good to have a few snacks around to nibble at, these are not necessarily hot appetizer/snacks but they are a smart way of prolonging the appetizers. I love adding crispy chick peas, carrot & cucumber sticks, ice cold mini radishes with butter and sea salt, a cheese board filled with a variety of soft and hard cheeses nuts dried fruit and crackers.
If the appetizer is fussy and not convenient you are going to get flustered and it will not make any sense. Hence I would always suggest, look at the number of people you are serving, plan around their palates, keep a few genetic items but also go specific on your likes – if you are the one hosting. It is always fun to have a couple of good appetizers rather than to many rubbish ones.
Now that we have covered the basics of game night/day appetizer recipes let us look at a some of them which I would 100% recommend for any party or gathering. Some of these are great to take to parties/pot luck dinners as well. If you do make any of these recipes, don’t forget to tag on social media so I can see your yummy creations.
