The perfect summer drink if you love fruity and fresh flavors, this one will not disappoint. Cooling and delicious with fresh watermelon, mint and lemon. Make these cocktails ahead of time for perfect brunch drinks.
You don’t need a recipe to make this but I will share one with you only because if you are anything like me you, a guideline on the rations of fruit juice to alcohol is important. I have been a teetotaller all my life and these cocktails are meant for those who would like to try something new but with alcohol. By all means you don’t need to add it but I would recommend you do, a little goes a long way here. You can’t taste the alcohol in this cocktail which is dangerous as you can land up having a lot more than you normally would thinking its watermelon juice, drink mindfully.
Unlike my other recipes I do not have any substitutions here as these cocktails are based on what I have tried, enjoyed and shared with my family as well. Hence you could aim to substitute a few ingredients but it would be on your own risk. Further more, I don’t suggest you have to use watermelon here however this works really well together but that’s also because the watermelon is juicy fresh. I prefer making my own juice and straining it out to remove any blended seeds or fibre. I have added pink peppercorn powder into this for an added kick but you don’t have to if you want to keep the flavor clean and fresh.
I have used a shaker to make this cocktail however you can use your water bottle at home or even your gym bottle to shake it, as long as you have a bottle that is sealed shut you don’t have to worry. This helps mix the drink and create a little air in the juice.
Food Pairing:
This cocktail is a great breakfast/brunch crowd pleaser and pairs well with most breakfast dishes including but not limited to all kinds of eggs, pancakes, waffles, French toast, crepes etc. You can also enjoy this cocktail with some pan fried fish, lemon rice and streamed broccoli. I would recommend paring this cocktail with veggies, fish or a pesto pasta.
You can watch how I made it here. Enough chat, let us make some cocktails Happy Shaking Ninjas! Cheers.
