Ham & Cheese On Rye Sandwich With Malted Milkshakes - White Christmas 🎄

Christmas Movie Recipe Inspiration #4 with the classic ham and cheese on rye bread with a malted rum milkshakes. This recipe is the easiest sandwich/appetizer you can make for the festive parties and makes for a very simple yet delicious sandwich.

  • Flat spatula
  • Knife

Ingredients
  

Ham & Cheese On Rye

  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices ham
  • 2 slices cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp cranberry jam

Rum Malted Milkshake

  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 2 scopes vanilla ice cream
  • 2 tbsp dark rum
  • 2 tbsp malt powder I used milo
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • Freshly grated nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • Butter both sides of the rye bread slices. Spread the mustard on one side and the cranberry sauce on the other.
  • Layer on the ham slices and cheese, close and cook over low heat for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy on the outside.
  • Remove from the heat and place in a serving plate.
  • To make the milkshake add all the ingredients except for the nutmeg into the blender and blend until smooth, pour into a glass and top with freshly grated nutmeg.

Notes

  • You can add more cheese if need.
  • Always butter both sides of the bread for that crispy texture and golden color.
  • Make the sandwich ahead of time and grill them just before serving.
  • To make the milkshake kid friendly leave the rum out.Â
