Ingredients
4slicesof thick bread
6tbspbutter
1/4cupbrown sugar
2tbsphoney
Pinchof salt
Serve with:
Whipped cream
Caramel sauce
Instructions
Start by preheating the oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with parchment and set aside.
Cut the crusts off the bread slices, ideally use a brioche or unsliced white bread.
In a bowl add the butter, brown sugar and mix with a spatula. Add salt, vanilla, honey and mix.
Spread this butter mixture evenly over all the sides of the slices of bread, top, bottom and sides.
Place them on a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and gently flip each piece of bread. Bake again for 8 more minutes.
Take the tray out of the oven and let the toast sit for about 2 minutes on the tray.
With the help of a spatula transfer each toast to a wire rack to finish cooling. They will be very hot and soggy, but as they cool down they will get crispy. Allow to cool for 8-10 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream and caramel sauce.
Notes
You must flip the toasts half way through the baking as that will help it cool on both sides evenly.
Finishing the cooling on a wire rack is important as the air flow allows the toast to get crispy and not turn soggy with condensation from the heat.
