Sugar Cookies - The Christmas Chronicles🎄

Christmas movie recipe inspiration #3 with my perfect sugar cookie recipe. The ONLY sugar cookie recipe you will need this festive season that is not only simple to make but delicious and hold its shape after baking.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rubber spatula
  • Baking tray
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking paper & Cling wrap
  • Cookie cutters

Ingredients
  

  • 90 gm butter
  • 90 gm castor sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 200 gm flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

1 recipe Royal Icing* (check notes)

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl add the butter and castor sugar, mix until combined. Add the egg and flavorings, mix again.
  • Add the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until smooth and its formed a dough.
  • Wrap in cling wrap and place in the fridge for 15 mins. Preheat the oven to 180℃, line a baking tray with baking paper and set aside.
  • Roll the dough between two sheets of baking paper until 1/2 or 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Cut them out using your cookie cutters and transfer the cut outs to the baking tray and bake for 9-10 mins.
  • Transfer to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely before icing.

Notes

  • The baking time will depend on the thickness and size of the cookies hence the larger or thicker the cookie the longer the baking time, the smaller and thinner the cookies are the lesser the baking time.
