This drink is fresh, easy and delicious. Literally the best summer hack to give your coffee a tropical burst of flavor. Literally your favorite brewed coffee, coconut water and ice stirred together.
I’ve been seeing this drink all over social media and I had to give it a go to see what the fuss was all about. I am here to report back it is so good. Subtle but refreshing. A great way to amp up your coffee. Also if you are an iced black coffee drinker then you would like this drink. There are a few ways to make it and they are all delicious but this one is the best way I think. I am not entirely sure who came up with the original idea but I have linked the viral videos here for your reference.
To make the coffee we need espresso shots or strong black coffee, coconut water and ice. Som recipes call for sweetener as well but I have not used any here only because I like my coffee bitter and also the coconut water was relatively sweet. To make the coffee frothy you can use a frother, whisk, shaker or a bottle with a tight lid. It is served in a glass with a straw.
Brew the coffee as you would. I have used instant black coffee and I’ve made it super strong. Pour it into a shaker with a little ice (this helps create the froth). Close it tightly and shake it really well until you cannot hear the ice and the mixture has gotten thick and frothy. In a glass add the ice and pour over the coconut water. Scoop the froth over the coconut water and pour in the black coffee. Stir it together and enjoy.
If you want to keep the foam separate you can whip the coffee in a blender until foamy and less frothy this will settle on the top of the coconut water. I prefer the froth and the black coffee as it is more enjoyable overall personally. If you are adding any sweetener you can add it into the coffee before shaking. Whatever you do, serve it chilled.
My magic coconut cake, the coconut pudding, you could also do the bounty ice cream. I would suggest serving it with tropical flavors you could just as well serve it with fruit also and it would be delicious. But don’t feel hesitant to share it with breakfast dishes like French toast, pancakes, eggs etc. it is coffee and works well with any of those meals.
