Since then I have seen so many videos online how to make this dressing and salad at home. Obviously the green goddess recipe from baked by Melissa was the first video I saw. However not to later after that green goddess was viral on tiktok.

The dressing is named for it’s color and it nutrient dense value. There are many theories on how this recipe came into being and the most accepted version is the green goddess dressing originated in San Francisco in 1923, when the executive chef Phil Roemer of the Palace Hotel wanted something to pay tribute to actor George Arliss and his hit play, The Green Goddess. Green goddess means a good for you, nutrient dense versatile dressing that is vegetarian and most often than not vegan as well.
This salad dressing is very good for you filled with healthy fats and provide a multitude of benefits. It can be high in calories depending not he recipe prepared but a little goes a long way. A homemade recipe should keep well in the fridge for 5 days. Store bought bottles will have an expiry date on it.
The green goddess dressing haas a rich and creamy texture thanks to the lemon and tahini in it. It has a herby flavor with the fresh herbs, it has a tang to it from the lemon juice.
Every green goddess dressing recipe is different, however a basic foundation of the recipe is fresh herbs, dried herbs, garlic, lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, seasoning.
Traditionally green goddess dressing is used over salads as a salad dressing but you can use it as a dip, sandwich spread, pasta sauce or even a marinade.
I used a combination of fresh herbs such as parsley, dill, coriander, mint, green onion, baby spinach, garlic, olive oil, tahini, nutritional yeast, apple cider vinegar, mustard, lime juice, honey, salt, dried herbs such as oregano and thyme, black pepper powder. A little water to thin it out.
To make this green goddess dressing we need a blender, I have used a nutribullet to blend it. Store this dressing in an air tight container in the fridge once prepared.
We add all the ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. If the ingredients are not blending well scrape down the edges as needed. You may need to add a little water into the dressing to thin it out for the right consistency. Pour into an air tight container and place int he fridge. Use as needed.
I love serving this as a dressing with a simple salad made of cabbage, spinach, fresh herbs, cucumbers. To make the ultimate green goddess salad dressing recipe. However I love it with a bag of tortilla chips as well. You can spoon it into your pasta to get an instant green pasta sauce – top with cheese or yogurt to make it cheesy. I also like adding a spoon into my eggs before scrambling them. Spread it over bread/toast to make a more delicious sandwich.
Store this dressing in an air tight container in the fridge for 1 week. I would suggest stirring it well before using. Also, you may need to thin it down with water to get the right consistency.
