A crunchy chocolate bar stuffed with pistachio spread and toasted kunafa pastry to make the most indulgent and delicious copycat dessert from Dubai’s Viral Tiktok recipe.
Okay these pistachio filled chocolate bars do not disappoint. Mine aren’t as thick and big as the FIX dessert bars but the flavors are banging! Considering you don’t need much to make this recipe I am blow away at how delicious these chocolate bars are. Now, if you don’t know, these pistachio chocolate bars have been trending all over tiktok. Living in Dubai and I found out about them on Tiktok.
These bars don’t mess around, they sell out fast and you need to be quick to get your order in. They are a luxury chocolate to indulge in and not your average candy bar. These guys truly know their chocolate and their flavors. With some very. Interesting combinations but the taste is not the only inviting aspect of these chocolate bars, they look like works of art. If you haven’t seen them I have linked their instagram account here for reference, so get inspired.
Making this recipe is not complicated and you don’t need any fancy equipment to make it but you do need to work with the best ingredients to get those flavors spot on. Considering we only need a hand full dog ingredients to make this recipe. This version I have made here is by no means a replica of the FIX chocolate bar from Dubai but since they don’t sell outside Dubai this recipe is a good enough version to create your own chocolate bar at home. Before we become our own little willy Wonka chocolatier let us look into how this recipe became a global sensation.
These bars are thinner than the original ones as everyone at home prefers smaller bars but you can make them larger like the viral ones. You would get 2 large bars but I got 4 smaller bars. Also I used white chocolate and colored them with a few colors to get those various colors on top of the bar but you can just brush the mould withe edible food color instead. You don need the white chocolate. The original bar uses more milk chocolate but I have used dark and milk to create a contrast as I prefer the flavor of dark chocolate. To keep these bars extra gooey, stay away from the heavy cream and use warm pistachio paste.
FIX dessert is a dessert bar that sells delicious sweet treats based in Dubai. They have a variety of chocolate bars that are not your everyday candy bars they are packed with a variety of flavors and textures to create the most delicious dessert bar.
A creator on tiktok posted these chocolate bars which went viral and very soon people who travelled to Dubai and those to lived here wanted to get their hands on these dessert bars. They are simply yummy with the right amount of chocolate to filling ratio. Also they are huge in size, in comparison to the regular candy bars.
As of now they don’t sell outside Dubai. Many people suggested you can find them at the airport but you cannot. The only way to get your hands on these bars is by purchasing them through the delivery app.
These dessert bars are chocolate bars filled with a variety of flavors but the most popular one is the pistachio kunafa filling which is crunchy and very. Yummy.
We need dark chocolate and milk chocolate to make the chocolate shell, I have used pistachio spread, kunafa pastry, coconut oil, sea salt, pistachio powder and you can add chopped pistachios as well. We also need a little white chocolate and food coloring to make the beautiful colors on the outside of the bar. We need to kunafa pastry, you can buy this fresh or frozen but it is a must. If you don’t have access to it, I have seen some recipes using toasted and crushed filo pastry and digestive biscuits – but this is not going to give you that crunchy texture you are expecting in this chocolate bar. Using a pistachio butter/paste over a spread is better as spreads can be stiff to work with and set very hard as well.
I melted my chocolate in the microwave but you can use a double boiler if you prefer. To set the chocolate bars we need chocolate bar mould but if you don’t have one you can set it in a loaf tin as well. Do not over complicate it, keep in mind the flavors are what bring this recipe to life so don’t focus on the shape if you don’t have the perfect mould for this recipe.
We start by cutting the kunafa pastry until fine and toast them over low heat on pan until golden. This can take 3-5 minutes. Stir this well to avoid burning, if you don’t toast this well the bars will not have that essential crunch in every bite. Once colored, take off the heat, transfer to a mixing bowl and set aside. If you pistachio paste is firm warm it in the microwave for 20 seconds until smooth and runny. Pour into the crunchy kunafa, add pinch of salt, and I like adding pistachio powder to this mixture. We then melt the milk and dark chocolate in the microwave in a bowl for 10 second intervals, stirring between each interval. It took me 1 minute in total to melt the chocolate until smooth. Add the coconut oil, stir and set aside. Melt the white chocolate in another bowl and divide into a couple of smaller bowls to color them with food coloring. Dollop different colors of the chocolate onto the base of the mould, pour over the melted dark chocolate and using the back of a spoon spread it evenly int the mould covering the corners and surface completely. I like adding less so I don’t need to remove the excess.
Fill each mould with the pistachio filling and smooth out the top evenly. Cover the top with more melted dark chocolate and cover evenly. Make sure to scrape out the excess and place the mould in the freezer to set for a few minutes. Remove from the freezer and from the mould, serve it with coffee or after a meal.
Once they are ready, wrap each of them in aluminum foil and store in the fridge/freezer depending on how long you are keeping it for.

looks awesome and tastes divine Chef
I’ve been wanting to make this chocolate bar for weeks now but am finding it impossible to find a place to purchase the Kunafa Pastry in Ontario! Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
hey Ellen! I wouldn’t know for sure as I am based in Dubai and it is easily accessible to us but I am aware it is easily accessible online, you might need to pay something for shipping. check amazon, Iqbal sweets online, Turkish mart.
Check middle eastern stores they are everywhere in Ontario
Hi there: You can purchase it as Iqbal Foods the store is located in Ajax, ON . Just google it and you will get the directions to get there. SM
you can make kunafa yourself. it takes half an hour
I’m having issues getting th crunch after mixing the pistachio cream with the knafeh. It loses its crunch when they mix together 🙁 i don’t know why. i made my own pistachio cream and added water to get the consistency right but maybe i shouldn’t ?
Hey Val, there are two points I will give you to help this. 1) make sure to roast the pastry really well over the stove before mixing into the pistachio paste. I like a deep brown color. Alternatively you can even fry it in ghee/butter. 2) the pistachio paste I use is pure pistachios ground into a paste. if you are using a pistachio butter that is not runny enough you can warm it up in the microwave for 10-20 seconds. I would believe that the addition of water will make the pastry soggy and not hold its crispy crunchy texture. Hope this helps!
For your pistachio paste, do you mix anything with your pistachio? I mixed mine with milk, butter and white chocolate, but it makes the kataifi soggy once I mix it together
Hey Jo, my pistachio paste is pistachio nuts ground into a paste with a little olive oil to keep the consistency. I have also made this recipe with store bought pistachio butter which includes sugar, canola oil and it works well. I would suggest avoid adding the milk. Butter will help toast the pastry. I haven’t tried using white chocolate but I do use a little tahini paste and it is perfectly fine. Hope this helps xx
If you mean Ontario, California, than go to Super King Market in Claremont. You need to go to a Middle Eastern market to find the pastry.
Would you happen to have the macros for one bar?
Hi made the chocolate bars how long do the last in the fridge and can you freeze them thank you
hey Joanne, this depends on how hot your kitchen is. I would suggest placing them in the fridge for 15-20 minutes or in the freezer for 5 minutes. just make sure when you take them out of the fridge/freezer they are not soft.
Hi I have made the bars of chocolate but how long can you store them I made them yesterday and can you store them in the freezer and how long for thank you
Hey Joanne, they keep in the fridge for 10 days and in the freezer for 2 months. I still have a couple of pieces from my previous batch in the freezer which I eat sparingly, LOL.
Thank you
You’re welcome!
