Chocolate Mug Cake With Cadbury Creme Egg in 5 Mins

Moist and delicious chocolate cake in a mug baked in the microwave for 1 minute with a Cadbury creme egg center. Serve it warm with a little dusting of icing sugar, a simple eggless single serve easter dessert.

If there is one I love, it has to be a quick and easy dessert that you can make in little to no time. Something that is warm, delicious, quick, satisfying and very yummy. Not to mention minimal wash up. This chocolate mug cake is JUST THAT. But this is not any chocolate mug cake, it is my Cadbury Creme Egg chocolate mug cake that is baked in 1 minute in the microwave. It is the easiest and most yummy easter dessert you will bake this weekend.

I have made a brownie microwave mug cake before which was so fudgy and perfect. But this one is more fluffy and moist, the Cadbury creme egg center is indulgent and makes it obey gooey and so rich. Did I mention it is an eggless recipe? I meant we don’t need to turn on the oven or any og that jazz. So, let us get to the recipe.

What is a Cadbury cream egg? What is in a cream egg?

A Cadbury creme eggs is a seasonal treat that you can find in store during easter. It has a milk chocolate shell that is filled with white and orange gooey fondant filling. It shaped in an egg to enhance the easter vibes. They are the perfect sweet to dish up this time of the year. Also they are very famous in desserts all over the world. Check out my easter brownie recipe for more inspiration.

What are mug cakes?

Mug cakes are basically single serve cakes baked in the a mug either in the microwave or the oven. This dessert is the perfect treat for one, usually uses minimal ingredients and equipment making for a simple, quick and easy satisfying dessert.

What is a chocolate mug cake?

This chocolate mug cake in rich, indulgent and tender. It is basically the best chocolate cake you will eat but baked in a mug in the microwave for 1 minute. I prefer underbaking mug cakes a little as the mug stays hot for a while, giving enough residual heat to continue cooking the cake. This mug cake is best served warm but I have eaten it fridge cold as well.

What ingredients do you need to make this Chocolate Mug Cake With Cadbury Creme Egg?

We need pantry ingredients (which I believe you most likely would already have in your kitchen) to make this chocolate mug cake. For the wet ingredients we need oil, milk, brown sugar, vinegar. And for the dry ingredients we need, cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, salt. I have used two Cadbury creme eggs to make this dessert to make it easter themed.

What substitutes can you use to make this Chocolate Mug Cake With Cadbury Creme Egg?

Cadbury creme egg –

Unfortunately there is no substitute for this, as it is a Cadbury creme egg mug cake recipe but if don’t have access to them then just use a piece or two of milk chocolate.

Cocoa powder –

It must be unsweetened cocoa powder to make this chocolate mug cake. Thats what makes it moist, fluffy and tender.

Brown sugar –

You can use white sugar here but the fudge texture comes from the brown sugar.

Oil –

You can use melted butter to make this microwave mug cake as well.

Flour –

To keep this chocolate mug cake gluten free you can use a gluten free all purpose flour mix to make it as well.

Baking soda –

This is a must, it reacts with the vinegar and makes the chocolate mug cake tender, moist, fluffy and so delicious.

What equipment do you need to make this Chocolate Mug Cake With Cadbury Creme Egg?

The beauty about this recipe is that we mix the batter in the mug with a rubber spatula. You could use a small whisk if you like. If your dry ingredients have lumps in them I would suggest passing them through a strainer first. The cake is baked in the microwave.

How to make this Chocolate Mug Cake With Cadbury Creme Egg?

In a mug add the oil, brown sugar and stir until smooth. Add the milk and stir again. Add the cocoa powder and stir until no lumps. Add the flour, baking powder, salt and stir together. Add the vinegar into the batter and stir again. Place a whole egg into the the center of the batter and bake for 30 seconds in the microwave. Check the doneness of the cake batter, it will still be wet, bake it again for 30 seconds and top it with half a creme egg.

Serving & storing Chocolate Mug Cake With Cadbury Creme Egg?

Dust with icing sugar and serve while warm but I have eaten this cake cold from the fridge and it was still delicious. This is a single serve recipe, I don’t think you will have any leftovers but if you do then I wold suggest covering the mug with cling wrap and placing in the fridge for up to 3 days. The cake will dry out the longer you store it as it is not stored in an air tight container but in the mug itself.
