Guacamole in 5 minutes

Easy and tasty guacamole made with avocados, garlic, tomatoes, onions, lime, cilantro and seasoning. Such a quick recipe that is so simple and fresh for summer.

This is such a simple recipe, I usually tweak it to what I have in my fridge but this is most often than not what my guacamole recipe consists of. The beauty about this recipe is that you can customize it to your liking and there are so many serving options with it. I would suggest making this recipe when you are ready to serve and eat or else it can loose its gleaming green color. Before we get into the recipe lets talk about this famous appetizer recipe.

What is guacamole?

Guacamole is an avocado based appetizer/starter dip recipe that is served with crispy tortillas, crusty bread or nachos. It is served with tacos and many Mexican dishes as it comes from Mexico.

Why is it called guacamole?

The word guacamole originated in Latin American Spanish. It comes from the Nahuatl word ahuacamolli, which translates to “avocado sauce” according to Britannica.

What is guacamole made of?

Guacamole is made with avocado, garlic, fresh cilantro, lime juice. However there are recipes that add tomatoes, onions, jalapeños etc. there are many versions of this recipe depending on the place the recipe is from.

Is guacamole just mashed avocado?

Guacamole is made with mashed avocado but also consists of seasoning such as lime, cilantro and garlic.

What do you eat guacamole with?

Traditionally guacamole is served with crispy tortilla chips. It is also served with nachos and tacos as a side sauce. Further, you can serve it as a dip or spread with any meal of your choice. It works well with fish, meat or chicken. Better yet, they are delicious with beans and make for a yummy dipping sauce with quesadillas too. I love having it with eggs as well. Serve it with your grazing board or cheese platter as well.

Why is guacamole so healthy?

Avocados are known to contain healthy fats that are good for you. It is mixed with fresh ingredients that are all mashed together, essentially making a delicious raw dipping sauce/appetizer.

Is guacamole better hot or cold?

Cold all the way. Firstly guacamole is best eaten immediately once made however the flavors develop when you let it sit, in saying this the color can change if you have not added enough acid into it. Secondly, ripe avocados can be stored in the fridge so it is best to make it and serve it chilled. Also once it is prepared, you must store it in the fridge to avoid it going bad.

What ingredients do you need to make this easy guacamole?

To make this recipe we need avocados, fresh cilantro, onion, garlic, jalapeños, tomatoes, lime, dried oregano, pepper, salt. This is by no means a traditional guacamole recipe so don’t come for me if you say these ingredients are not added into it. I am well aware of that, this is just how I make it.

What equipment do you need to make his easy guacamole?

If you have a mortar and pestle you can use it to make this recipe. I used a large mixing bowl and form to mix it all together however, the rest of the ingredients need to be finely chopped with a knife or use a chopper.

How to make this easy guacamole?

In a large mixing bowl add the ripe avocados and smash using a fork until chunky. Add the remaining chopped ingredients with the seasoning and smash again. I like it to be a little chunky so don’t go crazy with the mashing. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Serve with crispy tortilla chips.

Serving and storing this guacamole?

Once the guacamole can be served with crispy tortillas, crunchy bread, puris (Indian crisps), chips, veggies, tacos, nachos or anything you like. Serve it as an appetizer/starter or as a side dish/dipping sauce with your meal. You can store it in the fridge in an air tight container for 2 hours before it starts to loose its color.i wouldn’t recommend storing it longer as it will loose its appetizing color and look. The flavor does get better with time.
