The only mango drink you need. It has fresh mango puree, vodka, lemon juice and kick from soda. A burst of flavor and refreshing with every sip making for a hydrating summer drink.
Growing up in Bombay I used to love this drink called “Frooti”. It was basically mango juice that was sweetened with sugar. We would buy them in plastic bottles and soon they has Frooti lollipops as well which was perfect for the summer. Today I find Frooti very sweet but I still love mango. You know what, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that mangoes are my favorite fruit. But in saying this I must clarify, Alphonso Mangoes are my favorite fruit. Whether its juice, smoothie, ice cream, pudding, cake etc, I absolutely love any form of mango.

So its safe to say this is an adult version of Frooti hence this drink has to be one of my favorites not just cause it is refreshing and easy to make but it tastes like you are eating a perfectly ripe mango. Now you could use white Bacardi here or gin in place of the vodka but I will be honest, if I have to call this a teetotaller cocktail then it pairs best with vodka, I found the other two options nice but not my favorite. What makes this cocktail stand out is the fresh mango puree which is literally blended mango pieces. This creates that Frooti consistency that is not as thick as a smoothie or as think as a juice, its like the consistency of cooking cream.
I have used a shaker to make this cocktail but you can use any bottle to shake the mixture together, even your gym/water bottle would work here. Shaking the ingredients in this recipe really helps mix it together as the liquids are all different consistencies hence don’t try to stir it in, trust me when I say it won’t blend well. I love topping it with fresh mango pieces and a slice of mango on the side but you can garnish It anyway you’d like.

Food Pairing:
This cocktail is a great breakfast/brunch crowd pleaser and pairs well with finger foods and any sort of canapé situation. It is a heavy cocktail cause of the mango puree so I would recommend keeping the food fresh and less is more. Roast veggies, halloumi, tofu, cottage cheese, etc work well wit this. Also, you would serve some poached chicken and steamed fish with this cocktail. I would stay away from carbs and keep it light.
You can watch how I made it here. Enough chat, let us make some cocktails. Happy Shaking Ninjas! Cheers.
