There’s nothing quite like a scoop of homemade ice cream on a warm afternoon. And if you didn’t know, I love making ice creams at home. Till today all my recipes are machine free – aka we make only no churn ice creams and this is because I didn’t have a machine. Until I got this beautiful ice cream maker Cuisinart from Tavola which is so compact, easy to clean and beginner friendly for anyone who wants to make ice cream at home without any fuss.
The creamy texture, rich flavor, and satisfaction of creating a frozen treat from scratch makes it a favorite dessert for families everywhere including my own. Today, I’m sharing the easiest and most versatile recipes you can make with your ice cream maker. We will cover 3 of the various options to make – a sorbet, frozen yogurt and ice cream. These classic recipes are smooth, fresh, and packed with real flavor. It serves as the perfect base for countless mix-ins and toppings, making it a dessert you’ll return to again and again. With tips on how to make it creamy and rich every single time. So let us get to it.
One of the biggest challenges of traditional ice cream making is the preparation time. Many machines require extensive planning before you can even begin churning. ALWAYS READ THE MANUFACTURES INSTRUCTIONS. This is designed to simplify the process, making it easier to enjoy homemade ice cream whenever cravings strike. Some benefits include:
Make sure to follow the quantities as suggested, the ratios are important for the texture, you can customize the flavors as you’d like. For the milk make sure is whole milk, if using a plant based option use a full cream option. Same for the yogurt and heavy cream – its the fat content that helps churn the mixture into a creamy dessert.
To mix the bases I have used a whisk and done it in the container itself to keep the mashup minimal. If your cocoa powder and brown sugar have lumps, pass them through a sifter. Each container has its own lid so you can store them in the freezer as it is. We obviously need the Freeze wand to churn them.
Chocolate chips (of all kinds and flavors), nuts, biscuits, spreads, fresh fruit, etc – you can add any add ins you like but don’t over do it with the amount as this can affect the churning process.
You need to freeze the mixture for 24 hours (but to be honest my mixture froze rock solid in a few hours and I churned it right after), then let it sit out for 10-20 minutes before churning for 30 seconds. You might need to churn for 15 seconds more depending on the texture.
Yes, this machine allows you make any mixture into an ice cream. I have made a sorbet, frozen yogurt and ice cream with out eggs.
Once the ice cream is churned, you can store it in the same container or transfer them to smaller containers and freeze. When ready to eat let it sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes, scoop and serve. When stored in an airtight container, homemade ice cream typically stays fresh for up to two weeks. Serve the sorbet with a slice of lemon, fresh mint leaves or my favorite – chaat masala, the frozen yogurt is best with granola honey and fruit, the s’mores chocolate ice cream is perfect on its own but you can add another marshmallow on top and slow torch until golden to give that toasted marshmallow vibe.
