Why the Cuisinart FastFreeze Ice Cream Maker Is Perfect for Homemade Desserts?

One of the biggest challenges of traditional ice cream making is the preparation time. Many machines require extensive planning before you can even begin churning. ALWAYS READ THE MANUFACTURES INSTRUCTIONS. This is designed to simplify the process, making it easier to enjoy homemade ice cream whenever cravings strike. Some benefits include:

  • User-friendly operation
  • Consistent freezing performance
  • Smooth and creamy results
  • Easy cleanup
  • Great for beginners and experienced home cooks alike

Ingredients for my Lemon sorbet, Frozen yogurt and S’mores chocolate:

Make sure to follow the quantities as suggested, the ratios are important for the texture, you can customize the flavors as you’d like. For the milk make sure is whole milk, if using a plant based option use a full cream option. Same for the yogurt and heavy cream – its the fat content that helps churn the mixture into a creamy dessert.

  1. Lemon sorbet – fresh lemon juice and zest, sugar, water, a pinch of salt goes a long way.
  2. Frozen yogurt – greek yogurt, milk/heavy cream, honey, pinch of salt.
  3. S’mores chocolate ice cream – cocoa powder, brown sugar, milk, heavy cream, salt, vanilla. For the mix ins I added crackers, marshmallows, dark chocolate chips.

Equipment needed to make these ice creams:

To mix the bases I have used a whisk and done it in the container itself to keep the mashup minimal. If your cocoa powder and brown sugar have lumps, pass them through a sifter. Each container has its own lid so you can store them in the freezer as it is. We obviously need the Freeze wand to churn them.

Tips for Creamier Homemade Ice Cream:

  • Do not fill the containers more than the max sign indicated, this will ensure the mixture is churned correctly with the right consistency.
  • There are a few setting options, when making sorbet, choose the sorbet option. Ice cream – choose the ice cream option. For the yogurt use the ice cream option.
  • Add ins – churn the ice cream first and then add the mix ins and choose the mix in setting before churning once more.
  • Churn them for 30 seconds at a time and sometimes I like to give it a stir with a spatula (if I see the edges need a little assistance being incorporated into the mixture) and churn again for 15 seconds.
  • If you feel the mixture is icy and not creamy – for the time being you can pour a little cream into the mixture and churn again. But next time make sure to add a higher amount of cream into the mixture and lesser the milk quantity.
  • Avoid over churning as it will give you a grainy texture.

FAQ:

What are the best mix-ins for homemade ice cream? Favorite Ice Cream Mix-In Ideas?

Chocolate chips (of all kinds and flavors), nuts, biscuits, spreads, fresh fruit, etc – you can add any add ins you like but don’t over do it with the amount as this can affect the churning process.

How long does the Cuisinart FastFreeze Ice Cream Maker take?

You need to freeze the mixture for 24 hours (but to be honest my mixture froze rock solid in a few hours and I churned it right after), then let it sit out for 10-20 minutes before churning for 30 seconds. You might need to churn for 15 seconds more depending on the texture.

Can I make ice cream without eggs in an ice cream maker?

Yes, this machine allows you make any mixture into an ice cream. I have made a sorbet, frozen yogurt and ice cream with out eggs.

How do I store homemade ice cream? How to serve the ice cream?

Once the ice cream is churned, you can store it in the same container or transfer them to smaller containers and freeze. When ready to eat let it sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes, scoop and serve. When stored in an airtight container, homemade ice cream typically stays fresh for up to two weeks. Serve the sorbet with a slice of lemon, fresh mint leaves or my favorite – chaat masala, the frozen yogurt is best with granola honey and fruit, the s’mores chocolate ice cream is perfect on its own but you can add another marshmallow on top and slow torch until golden to give that toasted marshmallow vibe.
