Peanut Butter Jelly Finger Cookies

These cookies are the perfect halloween treat! The dough is made with peanut butter and strawberry jelly to create the spooky/creepy look. Simple and delicious.

I am a Peanut Butter Jelly super fan. In fact I love peanut butter jelly and banana. But these cookies hit the spot cause the cookies taste like peanut butter and the jelly really adds that sweetness/color to the cookies creating a “bloody” effect or look.

The beauty any these cookies is that they don’t need to be perfect. They are chewy and soft but hold their shape well once baked. These cookies are great finger food options for parties (see what I did there). They taste like a peanut butter jelly sandwich but without the bread. I have shaped these cookies into fingers but you can make the dough into any shape you prefer and would like. Keep in mind that size of the cookie will affect the baking time of the cookies.

What ingredients do you need to make these Peanut Butter Jelly Finger Cookies?

The cookie dough starts strong with butter, sugar, peanut butter and flour. I have used chunky peanut butter but any works well here. Depending on the consistency of the peanut butter you might need a tablespoon of water to bring the dough together. Its is a forgiving recipe hence you can work he dough quite vigorously and not worry about the texture getting affected. I like to give them an egg wash before baking. This gives the cookies a deep dark golden color. You can leave it out and keep this recipe eggless. I like using a little vanilla and a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness. I have used strawberry jam to give the fingers a bloody look. We use almonds to make the nails of the fingers on the cookies you could use peanuts as well.

What equipment do you need to make these Peanut Butter Jelly Finger Cookies?

The beauty about this recipe is that you need a bowl and spatula to bring the dough together. Everything else works well using your hands to bring the dough together, to shape the fingers and to work on decorating the finger as well.

How to make these Peanut Butter Jelly Finger Cookies?

Preheat the oven to 180℃ and line a baking tray with baking paper. In a large mixing bowl we add the peanut butter, butter and mix with a spatula until pale creamy and combine. Add the sugar and mix again. We then add the flour and stir it until the mixture is slowly coming together. Tip everything on the kitchen counter and work the dough together. It might seem dry but be patient. If the peanut butter is too stiff you might need to add a little water to bring the dough together.

Divide the dough into 16 pieces and roll each piece into little logs/cylinders. Place on the baking tray and give them a little more shape once on the tray. Brush with egg wash and decorate with almonds and strawberry jam to make a bloody effect. Bake of 12 mins until puffed and cracked a bit on the surface. When it comes out of the oven decorate with more jam if needed. Let them cool and serve with some milk.

How long can you store these Peanut Butter Jelly Finger Cookies?

You can store them in zip lock bags or air tight containers for upto 10 days at room temperature. They freeze well for up to one month.
