Halloween drinks have to be the best way to celebrate spooky season. This hocus pocus sangria is simple to make and perfect to feed a crowd. Add spices and fresh fruit to give it a twist.
I love halloween recipes that don’t burn a hole in your pocket. This hocus hocus sangria is simple to make and honestly you can use any wine you have. If you haven’t already checked, I have a non alcoholic sangria recipe and a thanksgiving sangria which is delicious too but this one looks spooky and also has spices and fruits to add that halloween element.
You could totally make this recipe without a Halloween theme and serve it on its own in a large pitcher with ice. But if you are making it in November then I think it is mandatory to keep spooky season vibes going. I have used red wine, apple juice, lime juice and little mango juice. Now, you could use any red wine you like but I prefer a dry red wine as the apple juice and other ingredients balance it well. For spices and fruits I have used cinnamon stick and star anise pieces – I like to burn them to give it a smokey flavor. You can omit this but it is delicious. As for fruits I have used blueberries and grapefruit.

Food pairing options –
This is perfect to serve with a cheese board or platter. I would cos recommend serving this some spooky season treats, like the boo berry pies, devils food cake, black forest brownies. If you want to serve it with something savory then the chicken puffs and squash quiche is your way to go. Serve it with sandwiches or a simple red sauce pasta and if you are a meat eater, enjoy a good steak with it.
