Pumpkin Cold Brew Recipe Better Than Starbucks

This drink screams autumn and fall. It is creamy, packed with fresh pumpkin purée, cold brew, homemade milk foam, super quick and easy to make, not to mention cheap as chips.

When I heard that Starbucks is increasing the price point for their Pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin cold brew, I knew I had to make my own recipe which was better and cheaper. The best part about a cold brew is that everything can be made ahead of time and just thrown together real quick. I have made this recipe over 6 times to get it perfect and I am so happy with it.

The pumpkin milk foam is a combination of pumpkin purée, this is how I make my pumpkin purée at home, milk, double cream, pumpkin spice and maple syrup. That is it. I froth it up with a milk frother or you can use an ai tight jar to mix it up as well. You can then store it in an air tight container for up to a week. Which means pumpkin cold brew on repeat!

The cold brew can be based on any coffee you like, If you aren’t a fan of cold brew coffee, use regular coffee and chill it down with some ice or in the fridge. This recipe can be made warm with hot coffee and a warm pumpkin cream on top. I prefer this drink cold and hence cold brew.

There are a few important points to keep in mind while making this recipe, the pumpkin purée must be purée and not pumpkin pie filling. You cannot skip on the pumpkin spice, you need a little amount that goes a long way. I have used a mixture of milk and cream to make this pumpkin cream foam. You can use half and half instead. The cream adds a richer and heavier texture to the foam, simple it is a cold foam, it doesn’t froth up without the cream like hot milk would. I use this Milk frother to get it creamy.

Food pairing –

You can serve this with the sour cream coffee cake, apple crumble cake, pumpkin doughnuts or even the maple sugar cookies. If you wanted to serve this with something savory, you could serve it with the stilton squash quiche, mac and cheese some sandwiches.

Now that we have covered how to make this Pumpkin cold brew, you can have a look at the recipe video below but let’s get to it.

If you try this recipe out, don’t forget to share it with me on instagram so I can see how it turned out. I’d love nothing more than to chat with you on your cooking/baking.

  • In a glass, add some ice and pour over the cold brew. The ice is optional. Pour over the pumpkin foam and sprinkle with some more pumpkin spice on top. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can store the pumpkin cream foam in the fridge for a week.
  • I like adding a dash of bourbon into the cold brew while serving for an extra kick.
