A festive drink that is vodka based. Filled with cranberry, triple sec and a little Christmas cheer making it perfect for the holidays.
This season calls for a good cocktail or two. Something easy that can feed a crowd but festive and delicious. It is filled with cranberries, vodka, triple sec, lime juice and a little coconut makes it look so festive and pretty. It is a take on the classic cosmopolitan, you can check out that recipe linked here.
The glasses look like Santa hats making them prefect for a party. There is a fancy element in this cocktail recipe and that is the sugared cranberries. They are deceptively simple to make and look very elegant and fancy for your cocktails and desserts during this holiday season. I have used desiccated coconut to decorate the glass but shredded coconut works well too.
Boil 1 cup water with 1 tbsp maple syrup, add the fresh cranberries and take off the heat, strain out the liquid (save it for other cocktails or desserts) dunk the cranberries into castor sugar and let them dry out for a few minutes.
I like to serve this cocktail in a martini glass as it is actually a cosmopolitan but glammed up into a christmas cocktail. Find the glasses linked here. You can use any juice you like, I am using cranberry juice here but a red juice like pomegranate or raspberry juice would work in this recipe. The triple sec adds a little sweetness and you can use Cointreau as well, the citrus adds a delicious flavor to the cocktail.
If you want to make this a non alcoholic drink leave out the vodka and triple sec. I would recommend using orange extract/essence instead to still give it that intense orange flavor. Also, I have used fresh cranberries here, you can use frozen that have been thawed. You cannot use dried cranberries.
The best foods to serve with this is cheese. With charcuterie boards being big right now, I would recommend a mixed cheese platter with crackers, nuts, dried fruits and cold cuts. Mini quiches would be delicious as well. You could serve this with pasta bakes or even some turkey sandwiches.

Inventive vodka based cocktail. Looks nice too 🙂
It was yummy, if I do say so myself. This cocktail makes me feel like Santa is just home, after a long night of deliveries, takes off his hat and pours himself a glass. lol.
He would definitely need it !
