Tiramisu Twist

A coffee cocktail that is elegant and delicious. Tastes just like tiramisu, filled with espresso, Khalua, Baileys, Vodka, Cocoa powder and a traditional lady finger biscuits/savoyardi.

This cocktail is a cross between a dessert and a drink. She is simple, elegant and very delicious. A fantastic way to get the party started. But you can even serve this at the end of a meal as it is on the sweeter side and satisfies that sweet tooth. This is a vodka based cocktail but mainly a coffee based cocktail. If you are looking for more coffee recipes, check out my Espresso martini, Irish coffee and Wake the dead shot.

We start by adding espresso (that is chilled) or strong black coffee, Khalua, vodka, brandy and vanilla into a shaker. Add the ice and shake well until the sound of the ice reduces. This ensures the drink has gotten frothy. You need the ice to create the froth so don’t be shy. We will strain the drink out anyway so it doesn’t get too diluted in the process. In a small glass add the baileys to lightly whipped cream. I have also used half and half which works well. Milk is too light in weight to use but it works for the flavor.

In your cocktail glass, pour the coffee mixture through a strainer and let the foam settle on top. Spoon over the baileys milk/cream mixture if you want the entire drink to get mixed into each other then you can pour it directly into the glass and ensure use milk. But if you want individual layers, use cream in the baileys, the weight of the mixture will keep it separated. Top with a little whipped cream, dusting of cocoa powder and a biscuit.

Food Pairing –

I would recommend serving this with dessert, the No Bake Chocolate Tart is a good recipe to start with or even the Chocolate Baileys Cupcakes. If you wanted something more classic serve it with Panna Cotta and a cheese board would also work well here. If you want to serve this with something savory, use you can serve it with the Squash stilton quiche, kale quiche and breakfast dishes like the Eggs Benedict and pancakes.
