Here are some of my favorite and the most viewed gluten free recipes on the blog. They are simple to make and honestly, you wont ever know they are gluten free.
So here is the thing, I got into gluten free baking thanks to my brother, shout out Shiv Panikker. He turned gluten free around 10 years ago and there was no going back. Unlike many his decision was based on allergic reactions he consistently suffers from everything he consumes gluten. I don’t think I would be as interested in the subject if it weren’t for him. Hence on Gluten Free Day I thought it important to share the reason why I have so many gluten free recipes and alternatives.
In this post you will find a lot of recipes that are gluten free but you will also finds recipes that are not gluten free by nature but work PERFECTLY well with gluten free flour mix. There are a few desserts that are simple to prepare but also very delicious and happen to be naturally gluten free like the coffee creme brûlée, mango panacotta, creme caramel, Basque cheesecake and the chocolate mousse, and many times we are so caught up in make recipes with alternative and substitutes but forget to see the beauty of some of these yummy recipes that exist.
Let us talk a little about ingredients. Most of my baking recipes have substitutes and if they don’t have any substitutes then that means the recipe doesn’t work the same with them and you shouldn’t experiment. Having said this, here are some of the gluten free flours I like to use when making my baked goods: I love Bob’s Red Mill gluten free flour mix, they have two types, there is one with xanthin gum and one without. I have used both and the one with xanthin gum gives a lighter and fluffier product but if you are allergic to gums then use the other one. Make sure to check the ingredients at the back.
I also love using gluten free oat flour which is basically oats ground into a powder. This is great to add into cookies, bars and cakes as well. However one of the easiest substitutes to use is nut flour like almond flour, peanut flour, cashew flour – which is nuts ground into a powder. Again different recipes will have different substitutes so make sure to check them before you get adventurous. You can use these substitutes in my eggless chocolate cake, vegan vanilla cake, masala chai cake, chocolate cupcakes, my single serve chocolate cake, the single serve vanilla cake, single serve carrot cake and much more.
You can find these recipe videos on my socials. Don’t forget to follow along for more fun recipe inspiration. If you try these recipes out, don’t forget to share it with me on instagram so I can see how it turned out. I’d love nothing more than to chat with you on your cooking/baking.
