International Coffee Day is a day dedicated to the caffeine drinking lovers. The type of coffee you choose to drink doesn’t matter as today I share my favorite coffee inspired recipes.
For someone who loves her cup of tea this post will give all its due to the coffee lovers. I might drink a lot of coffee but I sure know how to use the flavorful drink in all my kitchen adventures. I must admit there are moments I have used coffee instead of water or milk in my cakes and strayed away from the rules only to be blown away.

In some cases the addition of coffee not only compliments the recipe but brings out the flavors of other elements, quite similar to that of what salt does. Now there are many of my recipes that suggest using coffee as the only option as without it the finished product is just not good enough. Dont get me wrong, I do appreciate a good cuppa once in a while and so I also have some drink based coffee recipes that are fit for gatherings or a party for 1.
Having said this, I would like to talk about a few recipes that don’t use coffee but certainly could if yo were feeling adventurous yourself. For instance, the Salted Caramel Sauce recipe is delicious with the addition of a little instant coffee powder. I would add 1 tsp of the instant coffee powder just after I add the cream and before adding the butter. The flavor of a coffee salted caramel sauce is unlike any other.

The Chocolate Fudge Cake recipe is another where you can add coffee into the yogurt while preparing the batter to give the loaf a slight mocha flavor. The coffee addition doesn’t affect the texture but certainly blows away the flavor profile. 2 tsp of instant coffee that’s been diluted in a little water or the yogurt itself.

One of my favourite recipes to add coffee into has to the Date and Walnut Cake. Instead of the orange juice I add espresso or again you could use instant coffee, this only adds flavor to cake but also gives it this deeper dark color on appearance. However, even though this is meant to be a tea cake this hidden ingredient could be a great addition to any tea party or occasion.

A not so obvious recipe where I love using coffee is my Cinnamon Buns recipe, I love add instant coffee granules in the cinnamon butter filling for the buns which I then slather onto the dough and follow the recipe as suggested. But the addition of coffee and cinnamon is unlike any other. I like using 3 tsp of Instant coffee powder here but you could use 1-2 tsp depending on the intensity of your coffee and the overall taste.
